Michael Neilson Community Seed Library
Grab, grow, and give!
Seed libraries work the same as any library. Pick up some seeds. Grow vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers. Harvest the seeds. Return them for the next person to use.
Our seed library is named after our friend Mike, a long-time supporter and champion of the Smithfield Public Library. We’re grateful to be able to honor his generosity and community service with this new collection. Seed libraries allow library patrons to borrow fruit, vegetable, herb, and flower seeds and take them home to plant in their yards and gardens, free of charge. The seeds we’ve selected are mainly open-pollinated heirloom varieties that are ideal for our Cache Valley climate, and our hope is that with each successful harvest, seed borrowers will be able to dry and return seeds back to the library for next season!
